A (VERY) BRIEF HISTORY

In the winter of 2022, the congregation at Strand Baptist Church determined to send Matthew Damonze as a church planter to Gordons Bay. The idea of re-establishing a Baptist church in Gordons Bay had been been steadily growing for some time through much prayer and conversation.
Strand Baptist has a history of church planting having previously established congregations in neighboring Somerset West, Grabouw, and in 2003, planted a church in Gordon’s Bay. Unfortunately, that work has since faded. And so, the hope of a Baptist witness in Gordons Bay is a not a new one, but made all the more urgent by an expanding population. In the hearts of those who go out to establish this work, it remains a task unfinished. A story yet to be written. The work is being supported by Strand Baptist Church, Kraaifontein Baptist Church, and HeartCry Missionary Society. The desire for all involved is to establish a great light in Gordons Bay. |
